 On the breeze of Spring

Poems soar high in April

Bringing joy and peace

The poem above is written in the form of Haiku. Check our bulletin board in the foyer and read the poems. There is extra space to add one of yours - so write us a poem or bring us a few you have written to share on our bulletin board. We hope you have fun with this as we have. Happy Poetry Month!

We the People Public Program

Come to our public program on We the People: Picturing America. Monday, March 29 from 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm at the library, we will be "unveiling" a special collection of books for all ages. We received this collection from the National Endowment for the Humanities grant through the American Library Association. Commissioner Sylvia Garcia will be our guest and will help unveil this collection. Other activities related to this collection will be taking place such as, music, crafts and refreshments.

There will be a display of the history of the library in Highlands since its inception in 1927. Pictures and a power point will be the main features. Come enjoy a special evening with us as we share our excitement and history with you.

Happy Birthday Eric Carle!

This Saturday, March 20th, was the birthday of famous author/illustrator Eric Carle. In his honor, we held a special craft and story time. We learned a little bit about this famous man and then took the opportunity to create your own tissue paper collage art.  The program ran for one hour. We will be posting photos soon. Keep an eye out for future art/author programs!

See you soon!

St. Patrick's Day Storytime

Yesterday morning at storytime, we made special St. Patrick's Day shamrock wands. Don't miss next week's storytime! We will sing songs, do fingerplays and read stories around the central theme of farms and farmers. The craft will be Old MacDonald's farm, which you can then take home and be able to sing along to with your children. Hope to see you there!
