Genealogy 201: Beyond the Basics

Our free training in genealogy detective work continues. If you have completed Genealogy 101 or if you have organized and done research on your own, we invite you to expand your skills. Rhonda Brewer, the Director of the Family History Library in Tomball, will explore genealogy websites, databases, search strategies, and other in-depth resources.

Classes will be held on September 11 in the Meeting Room L129, and on September 18 & 25 in Room L216 (Computer Lab); all classes are from 1-3 p.m. To register, call 832-559-4213 or drop by one of the Adult reference desks.

Signs of our Time

Next time you come to the library you may notice additions to our signage--and to the language on our signage. We’ve added Spanish!

Did you know that we have a small Spanish fiction and non-fiction collection? We also offer a Spanish children’s story time, free Adult computer classes in Spanish, a discussion group for people wanting to practice speaking English, and periodic free Civics classes for citizenship candidates.

Soon we will begin a new discussion group where Spanish-speakers speak English to English speakers and English speakers respond in Spanish.
