November is Picture Book Month!

Picture Book Month is an international literacy initiative that celebrates printed picture books during the month of November. Each day during the month, access the official website and enjoy a new post from a  champion author explaining why he/she thinks picture books are important. And, the next time you are in the Children’s area, stop and take a look at the fabulous display behind the reference desk!  You will find picture books from the featured authors as well as the favorites selected by the children’s staff - all available for you to check out and enjoy with your children!  Join the celebration and party with a picture book!  November is Picture Book Month!

Check out a Short Story!

When Canadian short-story author Alice Munro was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature a couple of weeks ago, news accounts said that she had brought that neglected art-form back into the forefront. If you're tempted to try a short story one of these newly dark evenings, we’ve made it easy for you to find a collection to your liking. Normally inter-shelved with the rest of adult and young adult fiction, they are currently displayed on our Round Wall so you can browse. Enjoy!
