Book Club Selection for October 7

We held our first book club meeting on September 2nd, and had a wonderful discussion of the book "On Agate Hill," by Lee Smith.  We will meet again on October 7th, and we have chosen to read "The Group," by Mary McCarthy.  Please join us at 11:00 am, at Senior Services if you would like to participate!

Lap Sit Starts Again at WU

We're excited to be resuming the Lap Sit story time sessions on Wednesday mornings at 10:30am, starting September 2.

The series-for babies aged 3 months to 24 months-will run from September through the end of May.  We bounce, clap, sing, and chant nursery rhymes.  This is a great step towards instilling a love of language and preparing babies to speak and read.  The sessions last about 20-25 minutes, with play time afterward.  A wonderful opportunity for parents and caregivers to meet, visit and possibly set up play dates.

Summer Reading Program Winner at WU!

SRP Winner at WUPatricia Bemrose is the winner of a $50 gift card from Amazon.com!  She successfully completed ReaderNation, the Adult Summer Reading Program of HCPL, and her name was chosen from all the participants at West University.  Ms. Bemrose describes herself as an avid reader, and enjoys listening to books on CD as well.  This summer she particularly enjoyed the book, "Dewey: the Small-Town Library Cat who Touched the World," by Vicki Myron.  Ms. Bemrose plans to spend her gift card on more books, and will most likely participate in the reading program next summer.
