Come see "The Joker" perform magic tricks on Saturday, February 23rd, at 2 PM. The show is for children, ages 7 and up. Adults may attend the show, if space permits. 

We Are Collecting Butterflies!

Here at the Baldwin Boettcher Branch Library we are collecting butterflies for The Butterfly Project at the Houston Holocaust Museum.  Bring us your homemade butterflies and we will hang them on the tree behind the circulation desk before taking them down to the Holocaust Museum in March.

Jerk from JamaicaIs sugar usually on your shopping list?  Does a trip to the grocery store involve a trip down the spice aisle?  Is vanilla extract a necessity in your kitchen?  Can’t face the world without your morning coffee?  These things we love so dearly are all products of Jamaica. Come celebrate this beautiful island country with us next Monday, February 18, at 6 pm, as we present some of the delicious culinary contributions of the Jamaican people, both sweet and savory.

Fathers and SonsJoin us Monday, March 4, 6:30 pm, for a discussion of the Russian classic, Fathers and Sons by Ivan Turgenev.  

Summary:  Bazarov--a gifted, impatient, and caustic young man--has journeyed from school to the home of his friend Arkady Kirsanov.  But soon Bazarov's outspoken rejection of authority and social conventions touches off quarrels, misunderstandings, and romantic entanglements that will utterly transform the Kirsanov household and reflect the changes taking place all across nineteenth-century Russia.
