Baldwin Boettcher Evening Book Club

Anna KareninaJoin us as we read the classic Russian novel, Anna Karenina, this summer.  At our first meeting, Monday, June 4, 2012, at 6:30 pm, we will discuss Parts One and Two of this famous work by Leo Tolstoy.  We will also talk about several film versions of the book as we move through the story over the summer.  Summary from library catalog:  Regarded by many as the greatest novel ever written in any language, Anna Karenina relates the doomed love affair between the sensuous and rebellious Anna and the dashing officer Count Vronsky.  Set against a vast and richly textured canvas of nineteenth-century Russia, Anna's tragedy unfolds with relentless force as she rejects her passionless marriage to the aging official Karenin and must endure the hypocrisies of society.

Have you seen the "Grant a Wish" list at our library?

When you last visited the library did you notice our "Grant a Wish" list?   Right in front of our circulation desk you will find a upright bulletin board with wishes (costs of items we need) to supply our summer reading program.  The items range in cost from $4 to our expensive programs of $100.  If you are only able to grant part of the wish you may share the wish with someone else or just provide us with whatever you are comfortable with.  This donation will be given to the Friends of the Baldwin Boettcher Library so it will be a tax deduction if you so require it.  Once you have granted our wish, your name and granted wish will be posted on the window of the Branch Manager's Office with your wish and name, so we will be able to recognize your help in contributing to the success of the Summer Reading

Baldwin Boettcher Mystery Book Club

According to the website Cozy-Mystery.com, most of the cozy mysteries that they read take place in a small, picturesque town or village, with characters who I could envision having as neighbors or friends.  I think this will apply nicely to the topic for our May Mystery Book Club.  Come join us on May 23rd at 2 pm for a discussion of the cozy mysteries you have read for the month.
