Knitting/Crocheting/Conversation Group meets at the Library

Knowledge Exchange – Fridays all year –Join us for this knitting, crocheting, and conversation group. The group meets in the Earl Elliott Meeting Room from 2:30-4:30 PM. Bring your own projects or use our yarn to make lap blankets for veterans at the V.A. Hospital and chemo caps for M.D. Anderson patients.

We also continue to knit or crochet 8" squares in any pattern. They will be used for children who are HIV positive overseas. When we send blankets they get stolen at customs, but the squares will get through and the women in the country can sew them together to make an afghan. This is a great project for beginners.  Please bring your own hook or needles.  Come and join the fun.

We Hope You Saved Room for Some Ham Radio

Pig at RadioIf you think “Ham Radio” sound delicious, then you definitely need to come to our program on Monday because you know nothing about ham radio!

That’s right, this coming Monday we will host Amateur Radio - 3 Million Friends and Counting. Don't miss your chance to learn about the history and practice of ham radio. It is an important hobby practiced by, well, millions. The program will be presented by the Northwest Amateur Radio Society (NARS) and is inspired by this year's Gulf Coast Reads book The Dog Stars by Peter Heller.

That’s Monday, October 28, at 6:30 pm. We’ll see you there!

Meet the Author—Sharon Mignerey

Sharon MignereyIt is our pleasure to introduce the next author who will be joining our panel on November 8th—Sharon Mignerey.

Sharon has always been passionate about writing and story-telling. She was one of those kids who always her head buried in a book. The library where she grew up had a three-book check-out limit, which meant she went there at least twice a week. Reading is still one of her favorite past times.

Sharon’s newest book is A Sacred Trust. Both her works, From the Ashes and The Good Neighbor, are now available in our collection for you to enjoy. Don’t worry. We’ll let you get more than three books at a time.
