Meet The Author: Jennifer J. Hayes

Author Jennifer J. HayesWe are another week closer to our free panel discussion on writing and you know what that means. It’s time to meet the next author—Jennifer J. Hayes.

Jennifer has been a lifelong student of romance and a shameless fan of all things happily ever after.  Somewhere in between running a successful marketing firm, hosting a relationship-based radio show, writing her column, supporting her foundation, rallying various charity events (her favorites being Heart Disease and Breast Cancer), and being a wife and mother, she managed to fulfill her latest passion in writing her debut novel, Bound by Memphis.

Say Hello To Shamrock!

Almost everyday sitting at the Reference desk, I witness a little body or sometimes two making a straight beeline to the big stuffed horse we have in the Barbara Bush Branch Library Children’s Area shouting his name “Maaaaack!!” with pure delight on their faces. Well now to add to that joy, we are very delighted to announce that Mack has been joined by a friend and yes it’s another horse! His name is Shamrock and he is, unlike Mack, gray in color. He has come to us as a very kind donation by Wells Fargo, the Cypresswood branch, made possible for us by Mr. Samuel Edwards, the VP there. We are very grateful to them.

Meet The Author: Ron Goodwin

Author Ron GoodwinIt’s time to get acquainted with our next author joining our panel discussion on Saturday, February 8th—Ron Goodwin.

Even though Ron was a military “brat,” he still considers San Antonio home. Like his father and brother, Ron joined the US Air Force and while enlisted received his undergraduate degree from Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas.

After his honorable discharge, he completed graduate degrees from Texas Southern University in history and urban and environmental planning. His current research focuses on urban history, the impacts of planning decisions on neighborhood development, and the historical development of Texas’ black community.

Board Game, Anyone?

Xbox 360, Wii, PS4… know any of these games? Of course you do!!! In this age of technology, almost all the kids play video games or computer games and I bet they are pretty cool but what about games which don’t have or need a screen or a mouse or a remote control or even electricity? I am sure you know what I am getting at, eh? Yes I am talking about the board games such as Monopoly, Scrabble, Checkers, Battleship and so many more.

We have all those games and more here at Barbara Bush Branch Library. Come and join us on Tuesday,  January 28th (or any fourth Tuesday of the month) @ 4:30 pm to have fun with one or more of these games. Bring a friend or two with you and show off your gaming skills. Happy gaming!
