  African-American Read-In

Saturday, February 26, 2011

Over a million readers across the U.S. are expected to participate in the 22nd Annual African American Read-In. The Barbara Bush Library and The E.B.O.N.Y. organization will join forces as official sponsors of this event locally. The goal is to make the celebration of African American literacy a traditional part of Black History Month activities.

MAKING THE CASE FOR LIBRARIES

Library supporters in Rep. Patricia Harless's office in the CapitolLibrary supporters travelled to Austin on Library Legislative Day, Feb. 16. Their purpose was to make the case for restoring some of the devastating cuts to libraries in the proposed state budget that would impact library-provided databases, interlibrary loan services, computer access, and other services to customers. Pictured are Stephanie Green from Klein ISD; staff and Friends of the Barbara Bush Library; and Colby Beuck (center), aide to Rep. Patricia Harless. The group also visited with aides to State Sen. Dan Patrick, Rep. Debbie Riddle and Rep. Dwayne Bohac. Visit this Texas Library Association website to see how your voice can be heard, too.
