Teen Summer Writing Contest Winners

writingOn Tuesday, the winners of the Fifth Annual Teen Summer Writing Contest were announced at a reception held at the Tomball Library. Mary Lindsey, a local author of popular YA novels, was on hand to offer some motivational words on writing and hand out the awards. Hosted in conjunction with the Barbara Bush Branch Library, the Writing Contest was a huge success. Poems and short stories were submitted by teens from both branches, various other HCPL branches, and several states across the country. Thanks to all the teens who wrote and submitted fantastic entries!

Congratulations to all our winners for their outstanding poems and short stories!

Holi Water War Recap

The Summer Reading Program (SRP) has come and gone and boy did we have fun. Hundreds of teens enjoyed all the offerings we had for them. One of the highlights had to be the Holi Water War. If that event didn’t scream Fun Had By All then nothing did. Kudos to our Rebecca, our Young Adult Librarian, and her fabulous assistant Margaret for putting on such a great program and a great SRP!

Surprise Surprise!

Okay so yes we did tell you that August 10th is the last day of Summer Reading Program 2013 but did we say that’s the last of the enjoyment. I don’t think so.
