Cool Crafts For Cool Weather

What do you think of the weather? Cold, huh? Yes! That’s right. So what do you do in the afternoons when you come home from school during these cold days? Well, if you are stuck with nothing fun to do, come to the Barbara Bush Branch Library on Tuesday, January 21st 2014 to make some fun winter crafts. The program will be at 4:30 pm in the Robin Bush Activity Room. I hope to see you then.

How Do You Get a Book Published?

Before you know it our annual African American Read-In will be here. We are so proud to be working with E.B.O.N.Y. on this event and this year will be something special. This year we will feature a panel of authors addressing how to get a book published. This is an excellent opportunity for all of you aspiring writers out there to pick up some solid tips and tricks for those next steps in your goal to get published. Plus, it’s free!

In addition, there will be free activities for children and a reception to follow. Join us on Saturday, February 8, at noon. We will be meeting in The Forum across from the library. And remember—come ready with all your questions to ask the authors. You won’t want to miss out on what they have to say.

Advanced French: Wednesdays at 1:30

Leila, a volunteer French instructor has resumed her advanced French classes on Wednesdays.  The classes will be from 1:00-2:30pm. These are advanced classes so some knowledge of French is necessary. Come and improve your skill with the French language and make new friends. No registration is necessary, just drop in. The Barbara Bush Branch  library is at 6817 Cypresswood Drive in Spring.

Classic Senior Movies at the Library - Come and see an old favorite!

Come and join us for a Classic Senior Movie Morning. We'll be viewing a film from 1935 starring Irene Dunn, Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers and Randolph Scott.

"Fun's in fashion when Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers enter the ultachic Parisian world of high fashion. This third Astaire/Rogers film is a silky adaptation of the 1933 Broadway hit which starred Bob Hope and Fred MacMurray.  It features a jaunty romantic plot, fabulous sets, memorable music and above all, incomparable dance magic to match the score" (from the DVD case).

The move will start shortly after 10:00 in the Ear Elliott Room. Bring a friend.

Beep Beep..... Reminder!

Hey everyone, I bet you guys saved the date but still I thought I’d go ahead and personally remind you all about the free play for all ages which is this Saturday, January 11 2014 at 10 AM. The play is based on the book Tomas and the Library Lady by Pat Mora and will be held at The Centrum, across from the library. I hope all of you can make it. It shall be uber fun.
