School is out for summer! The kids are celebrating and the parents are mourning. On the other hand the employees at Evelyn Meador Library are working hard organizing events for everyone (young and old) for the annual summer reading program. Let us help you plan your week:

The end of the school year is fast approaching! That means many families will be looking for things to do with their kids. Well, here at Evelyn Meador Library we have something for your kids to participate in. We even have things for adults to do. Here is a list of the upcoming events for June and the rest of the summer.

Asian Pacific Heritage Month Celebrations

May is Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month here at Harris County Public Libraries. A celebration of Asian and Pacific Islanders in the United States. A rather broad term, Asian/Pacific encompasses all of the Asian continent and the Pacific islands of Melanesia (New Guinea, New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji and the Solomon Islands), Micronesia (Marianas, Guam, Wake Island, Palau, Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Nauru and the Federated States of Micronesia) and Polynesia (New Zealand, Hawaiian Islands, Rotuma, Midway Islands, Samoa, American Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu, Cook Islands, French Polynesia and Easter Island).

Here in Seabrook the month of May gives us a chance to appreciate, honor and celebrate the cultures and heritages of our fellow citizens from those areas. To help celebrate we have planned several events here at Evelyn Meador.

Friends Annual Meeting Update/ and coming up El día de los niños/El día de los libros

Last night, April 24, 2018, was a huge night for Evelyn Meador Library. First we had a ribbon-cutting to celebrate our new membership into the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce. Then, the Friends of Evelyn Meador Library Annual Meeting with special guests from the Seabrook City Council. In total we had 134 residents and other concerned citizens join us to hear about the HWY 146 Expansion and other City Projects from Mayor Thom Kolupski and City Manager Gayle Cook.
