Get Ready for Super Bowl Weekend!

Are you ready for a weekend full of food, fun, and football?  If you're looking for last minute recipes or entertainment, we've got you covered.  We'll be refilling our Super Bowl displays all weekend, until all of our tasty cookbooks and action-packed football stories are checked out.  If you're too busy to stop by the library, take a look at the eBooks, digital magazines, and more that are available right here, on the eBranch, including current issues of popular cooking magazines.

 

Royal Reception

Hear Ye!  Hear Ye!  All Kings, Queens, Princes and Princess are formally invited to a Valentine Celebration filled with fractured fairy-tales, crafts, dancing and refreshments.  This celebration is for grade school aged kids and space is limited.  Call 713-466-4438 to reserve your space on Friday, February 10 at 4:30 pm.

Preschool and Toddler Storytimes

We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend with friends and family while some of enjoy watching the Super Bowl.  This is just a reminder starting next week all kids will have to have a ticket before attending Preschool Storytime on Tuesday at 10:30 am or Toddler Storytime on Wednesday at 10:30 am.  The tickets will be on a table in the Children's Area starting when we open to pick up.  This is a measure put in place to insure everyone's safety in case of an emergency.  

Houston Author Read Aloud at Fairbanks

On Tuesday, February 7 at 4 pm, we will be hosting a read aloud by Houston author Beatriz Chapa, for 2nd to 4th graders. She will be reading her new book Fruition, which takes place in Houston where four caterpillars take on a perfect adventure.  To sign up your children, please call 713-466-4438. See you there!

Rhythmic Books Your Toddler Will Love

Finding a book that a two year old will sit through is hard enough.  Finding one they will actually enjoy?  Yikes!  Some things to look for are books with rhythm and rhyming.  There's a reason Dr. Seuss and Chicka Chicka Boom Boom are so popular!  The rhythm in these books allows for easier storytelling and helps your toddler develop their language skills.  It allows them to differentiate sounds and recognize words.  Plus, they're just fun!
