Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

Theodor Seuss Geisel was born on March 2, 1904. He wrote and drew many children's books under the pen names Dr. Seuss, Theo LeSieg, and Rosetta Stone. Today is also the annual date for National Read Across America.

Dr. Seuss' Birthday

Mr. Victor will be reading stories today at the library (storytime started at 10:30 a.m.) and schools in the area dressed up as the Cat in the Hat.

Come by the library and pick up your favorite Dr. Seuss books!

It's not too late

We've already sent our "Texans Love Libraries" post cards to the legislators but you can still let them know that you do not want library funding to be cut 93%. The budget cuts that affect public libraries the most are TexShare Online Information, Loan Star Libraries, and Telecommunications Discounts. Loss of the telecommunications discounts would cost our library system over $377,000!

The following link allows you to e-mail the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and your State Senator and State Rep all at the same time:

Giddy Up, Pardner!

Howdy, Pardners!  It's that time of year for the rodeo, so get your western wear duds out, polish up your boots, and put on your hat, saddle up and mosey on down to the library to browse our new display of picture books about cowboys--"Giddy Up, Pardner!"  Happy Reading!

Coming to a theater near you

Charlotte Brontë's Jane Eyre is coming to the silver screen on Friday, March 25. The film re-make stars Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland [2010]) and Michael Fassbender (Inglourious Basterds).

Not familiar with the classic story? We have several copies on the shelf that you can check out. And while you're at it, be sure to snag a free movie poster in the lobby.
