Preparing for the Christmas holidays

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. Even though you're probably still finishing up leftover turkey, Christmas is just around the corner. At Fairbanks Library, our Holiday How-To's display will help you prepare the perfect feast, decorate your home, and make nifty presents.

Here are a few titles that we have on display:

Until Monday . . .

Pilgrim turkey 2All of us wish all of you safe and happy Thanksgiving holidays.

Movies for the holiday @ Your Library

Since the Fairbanks Branch will be closed November 24-27, this is the time to start thinking about visiting the library and checking out some entertaining movies to watch during the holiday period.  The library has a good collection of movies from which to choose--action & adventure, mysteries & suspense, anime films, romantic dramas and comedies, cartoons, and many more.  Don't wait until it's too late to find just those movies you want to watch and share with family and friends during the holiday.  See you soon and Happy Viewing!

Closing for Thanksgiving

Pilgrim turkeyI'm sure our web site staff will be posting this soon, but I just wanted to give you a heads-up.  We will be closed for Thanksgiving from Thursday, November 24, through Sunday, November 27.  That’s why none of your library items are due on those 4 days.  smiley  [Clipart © Microsoft.]

Libraries – The Original Recyclers

RecycleI had never thought about it that way.  Then yesterday I saw two t-shirts, one that said, “Libraries: Recycling since 300 B.C.” and one that said, “Read Green: Borrow from Your Public Library.”  Wow!  Imagine all of the trees that have been saved by people sharing books (scrolls, manuscripts, etc.) through libraries in the past 2300 years.  That’s a lot of trees.  We were eco-friendly when eco-friendly wasn’t cool.  And now we’re sharing CDs and DVDs, so that’s like recycling, too.  FYI, November 15 is America Recycles Day.  [Clipart © Jupiter Images.]
