Lost and Found Keys

Maybe you thought your favorite stuffed animal was gone forever. Well, dry your eyes and ask us if your beloved Mr. Winkle is in our Lost and Found.

Lost and Found Toys

We have quite the collection of umbrellas, baby accessories, keys (how did you leave without your car keys?!), flash drives and floppy disks, toys, sunglasses, personal papers (we won't keep them for much longer), hair accessories, purses and backpacks.

Come on in and claim your lost item or give us a call at 713-466-4438.

Help stop book abuse!

A customer recently returned this dog-chewed copy of Cujo by Stephen King:

The irony of the situation prompted a staff member to create the following display:

Book Abuse Display

The two damaged books on display are (believe it or not) examples of the not-so-yucky books that we have returned to us on a regular basis. Moldy books, muddy books, sopping wet books; you name it, we've got it.

We love our books and would like to share them with as many people as possible. So please, take care of your library books and help stop book abuse.

Spooky Reads @ Your Library

With the beginning of the month of October, it is time to think about selecting some good spooky stories to read and share.  To help your selection we have created a picture book display of titles that have spooky characters in the stories and that are fun reads.  Please take a look at "We Love Booooooooks!" on your next visit to the library and check some titles to take home.  If you do not find the titles you want, just let us know and we will get them for you.  Happy Reading!

S.O.S. We Need Your Help!

Patron Count Week is coming up and we need volunteers from October 11 through October 16. What will the volunteers do? While the library is open, volunteers will count the number of customers that come through our doors and tally them on a sheet.

 Library Customers Count

So if you have an hour or two to spare, please stop by the customer service desk and let us know that you would like to help. Also, if you know anyone who needs volunteer hours or someone who would just like to serve the community, please tell them to come in and talk to a staff member or give us a call at 713-466-4438.

Where did they go?

LostYou probably knew exactly where your favorite nonfiction books [like the cookbooks] were and could walk straight to them. Well, they’re not there anymore. We had lots of space in the nonfiction, and the fiction was packed so tightly that we kept having to get rid of books to make room for new ones. So, we have moved ALL of the adult nonfiction to make more room for fiction. Change is good, right?
