Celebrating Dad @ Your Library

It is almost time to celebrate Dads everywhere and to help you find good stories about Dads, we have a new display of books featuring Dads--"Celebrating Dads."  So, while supplies last, please visit the library and select some good books about Dads and read to your Dad for his special day.

Yay!! Summer Vacation!!

Road tripIt’s that time again. Do you know where you want to go? Do you know what you want to see and do once you get there? As usual, the library can be a great help. There are over 300 travel books just at the Fairbanks branch, and the other branches have hundreds more that can be sent to Fairbanks for your convenience. They are from such famous travel publishers as Fodor’s, Frommer’s, Rick Steves, Mobil, and Moon Handbooks. There are tons about the U.S. and Europe, some on Canada, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean, and a few on Australia, the Middle East, and Africa. So, no matter where you want to go on vacation (or have to go on business), library books can help you figure out what to see, what to do, where to stay, where to eat, and what to buy while you’re there.

Summer Reading – It’s for Adults, Too

Reading

Lots of people know that libraries have summer reading programs for kids and teens, but did you know we have one for adults, too? Here’s what’s involved: Sign up online, read at least 4 books between June 4 and August 7, and list them in your summer reading log. That’s it! You’re automatically entered into a drawing for bookstore gift cards ranging from $50-$200 in value. Pretty sweet deal, since you love to ready anyway! [Clipart ©JupiterImages.]

Jersey Village High School Summer Reading List @ Your Library

Attention all Jersey Village High School students!  Summer vacation almost is here and time to think about selecting your reading from the 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade literature reading lists.  To make your selection easier, we have created a special display of the titles in the Fairbanks Branch collection and color coded them according to grade level.  So, visit the library and select the title you want to read--the early bird gets the best selection!  And while you are here, pick out some other summer reads, too!

Read, White, & Blue @ Your Library

Just in time for celebrating the upcoming national holiday next Monday, we have created a display of books about our national symbols and observances.  Please take a look at the books and if you do not find what you want, just ask us at the front desk and we will interlibrary loan what you need.  Have a safe and relaxing holiday and stay cool!
