Trends in Aging @ Your Library

The under50over Program hopes you will join us Friday, February 18th at 10:30 am  when Gregory Gomez-Mira, Community Service Representative of Home Instead Senior Care.  He will bring a PowerPoint presentation on “The Aging Process of Today and How It Has Changed Over the Years”.

This presentation will take place in the Marge Jacobson Community Room on the first floor of the library. Light refreshments are provided by the Friends of Freeman.

"Couch Potato" Moved to Monday, 2/21!

The Girl Scout “Interest Project: Exploration Journeys!” program workshop "Couch Potato" that was scheduled for Thursday, February 17th has be moved to Monday, February 21st.  The workshop will begin at 5 pm and will take place in the Teen Zone which is on the second floor of the library. Light refreshments will be provided compliments of the Friends of Freeman Library.

Freeman Teens: Celebrating African American History Month

Jack JohnsonJoin us in the Teen Zone on Tuesday, February 15 @ 4:30 pm for an Academy Award-winning documentary movie about two famous African American boxers. 

Did you know that the first African American World Heavyweight Champion was originally from Galveston, TX?  Jack Johnson won the title in 1908.  After losing the title in 1915, it took over twenty years for another African American boxer to claim it: Joe Lewis in 1937.  Joe Lewis has the record for holding the title longer (over 11 years) than anyone else in boxing history. Come watch the movie, enjoy snacks, and learn more about African American history and sports history.

Wonderful Wednesday on February 16

Join us for a special Wonderful Wednesday on February 16 at 4:30 pm.  This afterschool program is held twice a month on the first and third Wednesdays.  It is designed for school-age children five to twelve years old.  The first Wednesday is usually movie day.  The third Wednesday is a craft or special program day.  This Wednesday we'll be having a D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything And Read) program for children.  This program encourages children to read and talk about what books they are reading.   The children can grab some snacks, pick up some cool bookmarks, and get some tips from the librarians about what to read next!  The children will need a ticket for this program.  They are free and available at the Kids Information Desk starting thirty minutes before the program.

Never Too Late to Learn - This Friday @ Your Library

Clear Lake City-County Freeman Branch Library and the under50over Program invite adults of all ages to join us Friday, February 11th at 10:30 am for a presentation by Kaye Moon Winters, San Jacinto Continuing Education. She will share with us what programs they offer for Senior Adults and how to become involved in them.  

This presentation will take place in the Marge Jacobson Community Room on the first floor of the library. Light refreshments are provided by the Friends of Freeman.
