Book Buddies drawing registration ends of August 17

  Looking for a chance for your rising K-3 Grade child to share the joy of reading this fall?  The Book Buddies program is taking applications for a drawing for spots in this free program.  The program pairs a child with a trained adult volunteer to meet on a weekly basis to read together for 45 minutes.   The program will be on Tuesdays at 4:30-5:15 pm in the Children's Department.  It will run for 10 weeks from Tuesday, September 12 through Tuesday, November 14.   To register for the drawing, please stop by the Kids Inforamtion Desk.  The drawing ends Monday, August 17.   Families will be notified by email or phone if their child's name is drawn.

Meet the Houston Astros' mascot Orbit on Thursday, July 27 at 2:30 & 3:30 pm

   Houston Astros fans can show their team spirit this Thursday, July 27 by coming out to see the team mascot, Orbit, as he does shows at 2:30 & 3:30 pm.  Orbit uses humor and music to demonstrate the importance of summer reading for children.  This program is recommended for children 3 years and older.    Tickets are required.  They are free and available starting 30 minutes before each session.   Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for supporting this fun program and many others throughout the year.  Freeman Library opens at 1 pm on Thursdays.
