Join us for Director's Storytime in Space on Tuesday, June 11 @ 11:15 am

Toddlers 18 months to 3 years old are in for a special treat this Tuesday, June 11 at the 11:15 am Toddler Time.  Harris County Public Library Director, Edward Melton, will be here for a Toddler Time in Space.  Our library director will be reading us a space-related book.  Tickets will be given out at 10:45 am.   This program is recommended for toddlers and their families.

Join the 2019 Summer Reading Program: A Universe of Stories

The 2019 Summer Reading Program began today with a great turnout at Freeman Library for our morning storiytimes.  In addition to storytimes, ,we have special afternoon programs on Tuesdays and Thursdays for most agess and Monday afternoon programs for tweens 8-12 years old.   Children, teens, and adults of all ages will have a great time reading books and attending programs to earn points.  To join in the fun,stop by the Children's Desk to register or go to hcpl.beanstack.org to register online.

Here are some hightlights for this week's afternoon programs: 

Tuesday, June 4 - Rocket Party - 2:30-4 pm - children iof all ages will have a great time making a soda straw rocket, launching it and recording how far it goes.  No tickets are needed for this fun time.

Prepare to be chilled by the darkest stories Houston authors have to offer as Clear Lake City - County Freeman Branch Library presents Houston Noir, an interactive author event on Wednesday, June 5 at 6:30 PM

Akashic Books continues its award-winning series of original noir anthologies, each set in a single city, with the long-awaited Houston Noir, released in May 2019.

Teen Summer Volunteer Open House on Friday, May 17 @ 4:30 pm

Teens: Are you looking for volunteer time this summer?  The Children's Department is hosting a teen volunteer Open House this Friday, May 17 at 4:30 pm.  We'll have a brief talk about the volunteer opportunities and then we'll have them listed on a table so that you can sign up for volunteer time this summer..  Parents are welcome to attend.  Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for supporting summer programs and our volunteers.
