Goodbye, Chicks: Project Peep Ends at Atascocita This Saturday

On Saturday morning, we will say goodbye to our baby chicks as they go home to the Blue Star Ranch. Project Peep has been an amazing experience from seeing the chicks hatch to tracking their progress every day. You can say goodbye today and tomorrow morning at the library.

To learn more about Project Peep, you can read David Cherry's article here.

Teens: Celebrate 11 Years of Club Anime!

In February of 2006, our library kicked off Club Anime and now 11 years later, we are still going strong! Join us on Tuesday, February 7th at 7pm for a celebration of 11 years of anime, manga, Asian culture, and of course, Pocky. We will have a sushi bar, an array of Japanese snacks, and prizes! We will also be watching classic anime. Don't miss out!

This program is for ages 13-18 years old.

Teens: Get Your Game On @ the Library this Thursday

Calling all Tabletop Teens! Join us on Thursday at 6:30pm for G.O.A.T.--Gaming on a Table. Bring your own tabletop games or play the games we have in stock. We have everything from Chess to Zombie Dice! Beginners welcome!

Ducks and Chickens in the Library?!

January 13th is National Rubber Ducky Day! However, you don't have to wait until then to come  see the 259 unique duckies in the display case. Children can then play the  I Spy Ducks game! Readers and non-reader alike are encouraged to participate in this fun early literacy activity. Children will search the library for clues. When they find the item they are looking for they will circle or color-in the appropriate answer on a game board.

1. Come to the Information Desk at the library and request for a game board.  This game can be completed individually, as a family, or as a group activity.

Calling VolunTeens!

Teens, are you interested in earning volunteer hours?  Our VolunTeen program runs by semesters, and the spring semester is about to start.  If you are 13-18, stop by the Atascocita Branch Library service desk to pick up a VolunTeen application.  The application is due January 14, and you must be able to attend a mandatory training on January 21 at 2:00 PM.

VolunTeens will be expected to assist with programs, prepare simple crafts, set up displays, plus assist with clerical tasks as needed.  You must be able to file alphabetically, work independently, and follow written and verbal instructions.  A minimum of 10 volunteer hours per semester is expected.

Contact the library at 281-812-2162 if you have further questions.
