Come and see how a creative artist works. Sit, observe and learn as Jennifer creates an oil painting over the course of two hours. Jennifer is certified to present Wilson Bickford’s “Fly Like an Eagle” oil lesson. She shares her love of painting with others. She is an artist and a teacher.

When someone says “money is power,” people tend to think of the kind of power only the very wealthy can wield, but that old saw applies to people like you and me just as well. No matter how little we have, the better we handle our finances the greater our ability to do the things we want and need to do—whether that is putting a little aside much deserved vacation or putting our kids through college.

During the week of April 11 – 18, Harris County Public Library along with organizations across the area will participate in Houston Money Week, a financial education initiative sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas Houston Branch.

Movie, Anyone?

Remember we brought a few changes in our Tremendous Tuesday programs for kids? One of those changes was that we will show a fun movie on the fifth Tuesday of the month. So coming Tuesday, March 31st, come and join us to watch a movie at 4:30 PM. *wink wink* it has dragons. See you then!

Free Comic Book Day!

Celebrate and discover the amazing world of comic books on Free Comic Book Day! Taking place annually on the first Saturday in May, Free Comic Book Day is a single day when participating comic book specialty shops across North America and around the world give away comic books absolutely free to anyone.This year come to Barbara Bush Branch Library.  May 2, 10 am ...while supplies last.

 

AAUW Grants Boost HCPL STEM Programs

The North Harris County Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) recently awarded grants through two HCPL friends groups to enhance children’s science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) educational programs at their branches.The grants were presented by the Fellowship Fund Program Committee during the NHC - AAUW’s Outstanding Women Awards Luncheon in February.
