Over a million readers of all ages and ethnic groups across the United States are expected to participate in the twenty-third annual African American Read-In. The Barbara Bush Branch Library and the E.B.O.N.Y. organization will join forces as official sponsors of this event locally. The goal is to make the celebration of African American literacy a traditional part of Black History Month Activities.
Friday, February 3, Classic Movie Morning will show a film from 1946 starring Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall. "L. A. private eye Philip Marlowe takes on a blackmail case and follows a trail peopled with murderers, pornographers, nightclub rogues and the spoiled rich." The movie is scheduled to start at 10:00 am in the Earl Elliott Meeting Room on the first floor. The library is at 6817 Cypresswood Drive in Spring.
