Sherlock's Back On!

The Evelyn Meador Branch Library is pleased to announce that we will have a second session of our popular Sherlock Escape Room! For those who missed your chance to attend on July 24, we'll have additional session's of the room on August 16, starting at 1:30. With room for ten people per timeslot and timeslots every hour until 6:30, make sure that you don't miss this fantastic program.

Register on our online calendar by choosing the time you want and putting in your information. If the timeslot is full, make sure you check other timeslots to see if there is another time you can still go.

This activity is for ages 10 and up.

It's "cool" at Evelyn Meador Library

Monday July 23rd maybe the hottest day of the summer for people here in Houston. Temperatures and heat indexes are expected to be in the triple digits the rest of this week. These dangerous Temperatures have led Harris County to designate the libraries in their system as cooling centers. So if you are sitting at home and sweating your butt off, come on down to the library to relax and cool down.

Have a FOMO? You Probably Should.

FOMO, as I’m sure you all know, is a Fear of Missing Out. It generally refers to the fear that people are going to do something fun without you and afflicts pretty much everyone at some point. If you’ve ever been worried about not being at a game, missing dinner, or have been stressed about what’s happening at home without you, you’ve had FOMO. So, let me tell you right now, if you don’t plan on going to the Evelyn Meador Branch Library this week, you are definitely MO’ing (Missing Out, if that’s not clear).

Always something to do at Evelyn Meador Library!

Summer is slowly ticking by and for some odd reason the stores are already packed with back to school supplies. But, here at Evelyn Meador library we are still in full swing with the Summer Reading Program.

Happy Stay Out of the Sun Day!

For those of you reading this post on July 3, have a wonderful Stay Out of the Sun Day! We at the Evelyn Meador Branch Library hope you are celebrating this important national holiday appropriately by staying inside and reading a book, the way that every holiday should be celebrated. If not, make sure that you are wearing lots of sunscreen, and keeping cool while you are outside reading your book. It would be a shame if you got sunburned while you were outside reading, and we would really rather you not get hurt when you are reading your book ever. Physically at least. We can’t help you if you get emotionally hurt.
