Summer Reading Calendar

Pokémon Club Starts in September!

Beginning September 16, Pokémon Club will meet the 3rd Friday of every month, from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM. This is a staff supervised program, intended for grades 2-5. Members are encouraged to bring their Pokémon cards and/or DS. Additional Pokémon related activities may be provided by the library. Snacks and drinks will also be provided.

Back to School Stories

Whether you're fired up or bummed out about going back to school, we have some good reads with characters that you can relate to. Just visit the library to grab a book from one of the displays, or click to browse the library's OverDrive eReading Room for kids and teens.

Learning Express Database

Do you need help finding practice tests for official exams such as the GED, SAT, ASVAB, and others?  Would you like to have access to such tests 24/7?  Then look no further than the Learning Express Library which is one of the many databases available through the Harris County Public Library website.  To find test preparation information, practice tests, and information concerning jobs and careers, just click on http://www.hcpl.net/ref/dbsubs.htm#education.  Happy Studying!

Book Sale August 27

Books-stacked-childThe Friends of the Fairbanks Library are hosting a Books, Etc., Sale at the library on Saturday, August 27, from 10:00am to 3:00pm. We will have hardback bestsellers, as well as paperbacks, cookbooks, romances, mysteries, science fiction, fantasy, children’s books, young adult books, and other items. There are even some music CDs and some movies. The prices are ridiculously low, so come and buy a lot! Proceeds pay for library programs, materials, or furnishings.

Back to School Resources

It is just a few more days until school starts and time to attend class!  To help you with some of your school assignments for the coming semester, the library has a new display of school resources such as books about science, math, grammar, and others.  Give yourself a head start on school and read some of the titles on these various subjects, or just read some of them about your favorite topics.
