History
The Galena Park library dates to 1948. In 1952, it moved to 1702 3rd Street. Construction on the current library began in March of 1996. It opened in December of same year thanks to a partnership between Harris County and the City of Galena Park. The Galena Park Branch underwent a small remodeling project in 2012 during which the computer lab was added. The lab increased the number of computers available for public use and became the location of free computer classes for the community. Due to needed repairs, the branch closed to the public on December 15, 2017 and reopened on April 23, 2018.
