Hispanic Heritage Month Celebrations

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with the Katy Library on October 14, 2017.  We have two great programs for you to enjoy.

At 11:00 am, guitarist Kyle Comer, of Da Camera of Houston, will present a "concert talk" celebrating Hispanic heritage.  His group will perform and discuss music and composers of Hispanic heritage, bringing a multicultural musical performance to our library and hoping to help families connect to our diverse city!

At 1:00 pm, we will have our Fiesta Hispana, our annual celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.  There will be dance performances, musical performances and traditional foods.

An Afternoon with YA author Cassandra Rose Clarke

For Teens Read Week, Cassandra Rose Clarke, author of the Assassin's Curse series will be here to discuss her books and what it's like to be a YA author. If you have any questions about becoming a teen writer, here is your chance to find out from an accomplished YA author.

Don't Read These Books!!!

Just kidding!  September 24-30, 2017 is Banned and Challenged Books Week.  It is a time when we celebrate our freedom to read.  The American Library Association's Office of Intellectual Freedom compiles a list every year of the most challenged books, using media reports of public challenges and and censorship reports that have been submitted to the office.  You can find the list here along with other lists of challenged books.
