Do you need some help getting started using a computer? Or perhaps you need to hone your computer skills? Beginning in January the Katy Library will be hosting a nine part Computer Boot Camp for new computer users. We will go over skills such as using the mouse and keyboard, organizing files and folders, copying & pasting, surfing the web and much more!
The Katy Library is one of the oldest in Harris County, started by the Katy Garden Club and housed in private homes in 1921. It later shared space in a grocery and furniture store and then took over the old Katy Fire Department building on 2nd Avenue. When first opened the library only offered 12 hours of service per week. Today, it is open 40 hours a week. The Friends of the Katy Library were organized in 1973 and still play an active role in the library today.
Construction began in 2002 on the current Franz Road location. The grand opening was on Sunday, April 27, 2003. The library reopened for regular business on Monday, April 28, 2003.
Information for Persons with Disabilities: Harris County Public Library will make reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities who are interested in attending library programs.
