Are you fascinated by these amphibians? Stop by the library for some books about them, then head over to the Katy Prairie Conservancy for Ranger Trek – Saving Amphibians. This evening hike will be held on Saturday, June 13 from 7:00 to 8:00. Search for frogs and toads and learn how the KPC is working to preserve their habitats. www.katyprairieconse
The Katy Library is one of the oldest in Harris County, started by the Katy Garden Club and housed in private homes in 1921. It later shared space in a grocery and furniture store and then took over the old Katy Fire Department building on 2nd Avenue. When first opened the library only offered 12 hours of service per week. Today, it is open 40 hours a week. The Friends of the Katy Library were organized in 1973 and still play an active role in the library today.
Construction began in 2002 on the current Franz Road location. The grand opening was on Sunday, April 27, 2003. The library reopened for regular business on Monday, April 28, 2003.
Information for Persons with Disabilities: Harris County Public Library will make reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities who are interested in attending library programs. To make a request for yourself or someone you know, please notify the Branch Librarian two working days in advance of the program.
