In celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, we are playing the anime movie Metropolis based on manga legend Osamu Tezuka’s story.

We will be taking some of Osamu Tezuka’s comics and decoupage them to create Manga Boxes.

     If you are interested in volunteering for the Parker Williams Branch over the summer, come on down to see the different activities and opportunities the library is providing for you throughout the summer on May 20th at 4:30 PM in the Library Community Room.

Community Craft – Cherry Blossoms and Japanese Paper Dolls May 19th @ 3-5 PM [7+]


     In celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, our community craft will be celebrating Japanese culture with two different projects.

     Our first project is creating your own print of cherry blossoms.

     Our second project involves a little origami as you make a Japanese paper doll with both geisha and samurai available.

     Come celebrate with us at the Parker Williams Branch on May 19th from 3 to 5 PM in the Library Community Room. 

Getting to Know Your Smartphone

If you feel you aren't taking full advantage of your phone's capabilities, sign up for the free class "Getting to Know Your Smartphone" on Thursday, May 19 from 2 to 4 p.m. on the library calendar or by calling us at 281-484-2036. The class will help you learn about apps, take pictures and share them with friends and family, use email on your phone, text, and more. 

Hour of Code – Scratch Lab Time May 12th @ 4:30 PM [8+]

     Hour of Code is a program brought to you by the Parker Williams Branch to help give school aged children some exposure to various computer programming languages.

 

     Meet us in the Computer Lab on May 12th from 4:30 to 5:30 to start learning and play with the basics of the Scratch programing language.
