Basic Life Skills – The Basic Essay October 25th @ 5 PM [12+]

From English class to cover letters, writing is an important skill to have for the rest of your life.

On October 25th at 5 PM, Mr. John will be guiding you through the basic essay.

The basic essay is a tool for school as well as every report for work that you will ever have to write.

Learn how to work in those transitions, hooks, and details in the Parker Williams Branch Community Room.   

News About Us: Southbelt Since the 70s

Visit on Thursday, October 26 at 2 p.m. to hear some of the most important or most interesting stories about people and events in our area since the 1970s, when Marie Flickinger, editor of the Southbelt Ellington Leader, and her friend Bobby Griffin started the paper. Presented by Marie Flickinger. This program is part of a series of events and book discussions at libraries throughout the area for Gulf Coast Reads.

Halloween Storytime and Dr. Frankenstein’s Lab Blindfold Tour October 28th @ 11:30 PM [6+]

On Saturday, October 28th at 11:30, the Parker Williams Branch Library will be hosting a special family Halloween Storytime in the children’s area.

We read a few books, sing a few songs, and have a costume parade around the library.

Afterwards, we will be taking those brave enough for a blindfold tour of Dr. Frankenstein’s Lab to touch some of the specimens and oddities.

To get us all in the Halloween mood, we here at the Parker Williams Branch are getting ready by watching the recapture of Newt Scamander’s menagerie of fantastic beasts.

For those who are planning to be Newt for Halloween, you’ll be just that much closer to your costume as we are going to make a Bowtrickle to hide behind your lapel.

STEM Time – Amateur (HAM) Radio October 18th @ 5 PM [8+]

Have you ever wondered how far radio signals carry? Did you know that you can talk to the International Space Station with a handheld radio?

Learn interesting facts about radio waves, proper protocol for radio operators, and the laws and licenses required to operate an amateur (HAM) radio.

Join Mr. John, a real licensed radio operator, in the Parker Williams Branch Community Room at 5 PM to have a bit of radio Foxtrot Uniform November.
