September is Library Card Sign Up Month!

Yes, that is correct. September is Library Card Sign Up Month and we hope you can help us spread the word to get new visitors to apply! Or perhaps your card is expired or needs to be updated. What better time is there than September to do just these things?!

Not sure what you can do with a library card? Check out our top 10 reasons:

WE HAVE A WINNER!

By random drawing of all the adults who completed the 2010 Adult Summer Reading Program, ReaderNation, at the Stratford Branch Library, Yvette Gardner won the $50 gift card for Amazon.com. Yvette plans on using her card to purchase a book of couples' devotions that she saw in a bookstore for $24.99. The book, "Love Dare" by Alex and Stephen Kendrick, is a couple's daily devotional featured in the movie, "Fireproof".

Masters of Disaster

Seeing as it's still hurricane season...we have a fun program for you to attend with your children this next Tuesday at 2:00 pm. Even though all of the other storms have petered out this year (hooray!), we still want to provide the opportunity of educating your children on the topic of severe weather.

The American Red Cross will be hosting the "Masters of Disaster" program to teach kids (and adults) how to prepare for and act during a hurricane.  The program will last approximately one hour.

So come on by and become a 'Master of Disaster'!  (We completely understand if you hold to the belief that your child is already a kind of Master of Disaster, but just in case they have not yet achieved this status, or even if they have, please come anyways :)

Domino's Pizza - Part II

For those of you who weren't able to make it to the initial scheduled visit of Domino's Pizza due to the torrential downpour that day, take note!  Domino's was unable to make it that day for the pizza party, and they have rescheduled for this Thursday at 3:30 pm.  (Ages 8 and up)

So please stop by to learn how to make pizza, toss some dough, and of course, sample the pizza for yourself~

Let us know you are coming, and we'll see you there!
