Teens Create: T-Shirt Bags

t-shirt bags

Hey teens! There are only a few more weeks of Summer Reading left (sign up here, if you haven’t already!), but there are still fun programs to come. This coming Tuesday, stop by and make a no-sew bag out of an old t-shirt! If you have an old t-shirt of your own you want to repurpose, make sure to bring it with you. Other t-shirts will be available on a first come, first serve basis and are for teens and tweens ages 10-18. Meet in the first floor Meeting Room on Tuesday, July 19 from 3:00-4:30pm.

For more information, call the library at 832-559-4200.

The Art of Quilling

quillingQuilling, which dates back to the Renaissance, is the art of rolling small strips of paper into shapes and designs. This art form is simplistic enough to appeal to all ages, and can be used to create small, modest pieces or complex works of art.

This coming Saturday the Tomball Library is hosting an introduction to quilling program, open to families and all ages. Supplies are provided on a first come, first serve basis and attendees should leave with a completed quilling project. Meet in the Children’s Activity Room on Saturday, July 16th from 11:00am-1:00pm.

For more information, call the library at 832-559-4200.

Half Way Through...

The bad news - the Summer Reading Program is at the 1/2 way point.  There is however, plenty of time left to sign up and join us for all of the fun and FREE library activities. Register for the kids program up until August 6th and read 10, do 10 and log it for a pin, certificate, FREE book and medal!  Every Monday at 3:00 pm enjoy special performer shows and activities along with our weekly story times and special Thursday programs. The good news - half the fun is still left!

Game On! Adult Board Games at the Library

Are you in it to win it? Come to the LSC-Tomball Community Library to play board games! We’ll provide the refreshments and the board games. All you have to bring is your sense of adventure and competitive nature! Winners take home bragging rights! 16+ welcome. Come on Thursday, July 21st, 6:30-8:30 pm. In the library meeting room, Room L129. Please call 832-559-4200 for more information.

The Power of Email Marketing: a SCORE Workshop

Perhaps you have signed up to receive the visually lovely emails our library branch sends out to make you aware of upcoming library events in your designated areas of interest. Those emails are formatted and released in a system called Constant Contact. It’s a permission-based marketing tool that many organizations and businesses are using to keep customers aware of opportunities.

Permission-based email turns out to be the most cost-effective, targeted, trackable, and efficient way to build and maintain relationships in businesses and organizations. On Saturday, July 16th, SCORE (that national not-for-profit society of retired business executives that nurtures businesses) is offering a free workshop to teach you how to master email marketing communications.

The presenter will be Mr. Blake Welch, a certified Local Expert and Accredited Solution Provider for Constant Contact. He also runs Welch Consulting, which serves small business owners and nonprofits in the areas of operations, digital marketing, and interim executive support.

That’s Saturday, July 16th, here in the library meeting room, Room L-129. Registration begins at 10:00 a.m.; the program is from 10:30-12:30. And once again, it's free.
