Join us for Kingwood Branch Library's Re-opening Celebration!

Speakers will include Commissioner Precinct 4 R. Jack Cagle, Houston District E City Councilmember Dave Martin, Friends of the Library - Kingwood (FOLK) President Carolyn Humphrey and Harris County Public Library Director Edward Melton. Kingwood Park Drumline will provide music.

Come tour the beautifully restored Kingwood Branch Library and celebrate the library's return, the people who made it possible and the community's resilience.

It's Finally Appening: New Summer Reading App Now Available

Beanstack Tracker IconWe’re happy to report that you can keep track of your summer reading a lot easier now. Beanstack Tracker has been upgraded. The bugs are gone and there are new cool features to boot. The app is free and available for Apple and Android phones. 

The app features a barcode scanner, reading session timer, stat tracker, and for all the busycaregivers, convenient family accounts. Beanstack has made the app more user-friendly and reading badges are now included! They pop up whenever you reach a reading milestone. You can find them in Highlights feature under Achievements. Badges will now pop up when readers reach a milestone, and there is a separate section where readers can find all of their earned badges and prizes.

Rockin' Summer Reading Prizes

Summer at Harris County Public Library means Summer Reading Prizes for all ages!

To earn prizes be sure to log your books, minutes, activities, and reviews on Beanstack

Every 100 points you earn, you are eligible for another prize until you earn 300 points and complete the program. Earn points by reading anything you want, doing activities, and writing reviews. Finish one book and you earn 10 points! Read for 30 minutes and you earn 10 points! Do an activity and you earn 5 points! Write a review to earn another 5 points! 

Once you have earn your prizes, please go to your home branch to pick up your prize. All prizes must be claimed by August 11.

Rock On With Reading @ Your Library This Summer

HCPL’s Summer Reading theme this year is “Libraries Rock!” and whether your jam is reading, coding class, art camp, robotics or, of course, music you will earn points toward cool incentives and prize drawings. We’ll even have a reading playlist to keep you rockin’ all summer long!

HCPL Summer Reading runs June 4 – August 4. There will be plenty of programs to spark the imagination and boost creativity at all HCPL branches.  The Curiosity Cruiser and library staff will also be spreading summer reading fun throughout Harris County communities.
