Literacy tutors assist adults who speak English fluently and read at a fifth-grade level or below. Students and volunteer tutors meet one-on-one to work in a book series provided by the library or on skills students would like to apply in their own lives.
English as a second language tutors and students usually meet in groups of two to eight. Using resources provided by the library, tutors arrange activities that enable students to practice reading, writing and speaking with each other in pairs or small groups.
If you or someone you know would like to join an ESL class, learn to read and write as an adult, or volunteer as a tutor, please visit or call any of the branch libraries listed below.
The following branches offer One-on-one tutoring for adult basic literacy and/or small group ESL classes. Please call the branch for more information.
