Summer Reading begins in two weeks with an exciting international theme. Our Round Wall will feature books from every continent on this planet and from other worlds as well. The Children's and Young Adult departments will have a roster of fun and interesting programs; and they will not be alone. The Adult Department is working on a number of interesting programs to help and entertain you over the summer.
E*Book*Aid will be available in the front lobby every Monday afternoon from 2-4. A team of volunteer tech wizards will give you personal help with using your digital device to read and listen to electronic books.
You'll be able to Learn the Art of Quilling--that's about making those impressive delicate spirally things made from paper--Saturday morning, June 8th at 10 o'clock in Room L 129.
Mystery author Jane Cleland will grace the library with a presentation about her 'antique mystery' books on Monday, July 1st.
On July 10th we'll be inviting artists in the community to drop your daily chores and bring your art supplies to the library for a mellow morning of sketching and/or painting--an Artist's Date--followed by lunch and a demo.
Then, on Saturday, August 3rd, we'll be "Speed Friending". Share your favorite books with other library customers and get some new ideas for great reads.
And then, right AFTER Summer Reading Program there will be another free bus trip to the Museum of Fine Arts Houston. That will be on August 15th. We'll start booking seats online and at the reference desk in June.
Come to the library, have some fun, and let us help you find what you need for a relaxing, enjoyable summer read.
