Discover Hawaiian Island Volcanoes National Park, the vibrant shores of Waikiki Beach, the dramatic cliffs of the Napali Coast on Kauai, and more! A True Jurassic Experience [11]

Elementary age kids are going to love our Afternoon Adventures every Monday during the summer reading program. This Monday, June 17 will excite dinosaur fans with Walt Whittington's DINOSAURS ROCK. It's a fascinating dinosaur, fossil and mineral adventure your child will talk about for a long time.

The program is free but seating is limited. Kids will need to have their hand stamped a half hour before the show. There will be a show at 1:30 pm and 3 pm.

You may have a couple of days of school left but our annual Summer Reading Program has begun! Go ahead and sign up [17] to begin logging your titles. Here at the Maud Marks Branch we have lots of programs for the whole family, including a movie this Friday at 1:15 pm where you can see how genius billionaire Tony Stark created his superhero alter-ego. We’ll also have free popcorn while it lasts!

Basic Cake Decorating [22]

Come and learn basic cake decorating. Learn to make your family cakes or cupcakes fun and decorative. This class will show you how to hold your decorating bag and how to use decorating tips to make pretty boarders on your cakes, simple flowers, and a written message. You will also learn how to eliminate that "dome" on your cake so the top is nice and flat and how to frost your cake smoothly. The class is limited to ten (10) people so be sure to register [4] on line or call the branch at 281-492-8592. Everything is provided but you may bring a small frosted cake if you want to decorate it to practice your new skills. The class is June 12, 2013 at 2:00 in the meeting room here at Maud Marks Library. Hope to see you there. We are sure to have a good time.

For those of you who like to listen to books at home, at the beach, or in the car and don’t want to deal with loading the CDs in the player, Harris County Public Library has OneClickdigital [31]. An audiobook can be downloaded to your computer, smart-phone, or other device such as iPad, iPod, or Kindle Fire. Go to www.hcpl.net [32] and click on “e-Books and More.” You will see the OneClickdigital link. Click on it and create an account. A library card number and email are necessary. There are tutorials on our website and a Help tab [33] for additional assistance.
