Occasionally customers will ask us if our library management system keeps a list of the books they have previously checked out. Usually our curious customers are trying to remember the last book they read in a series, or whether they have enjoyed this author before. The short answer is "No." Unless you have an outstanding late fee on a book, our system wipes out the record of you ever having checked out an item. We do that partly to protect your privacy and partly so we can save space on our servers.
However, there are several online social media sites for avid readers that let you document, review, and share your book lists (or keep them private to yourself). We librarians use all of them and, other than personal quirks and preferences, we recommend all of them. Library Thing (librarything.com), Goodreads (goodreads.com), and Shelfari (shelfari.com) will let you make lists of what you have read, want to read, wish you hadn't read; compare notes with other people; find read-alikes, and do much more. Give them a try!
