Sometimes the journeys we take do not lead to the destinations we expect. Sometimes while on these unplanned voyages we forge new friendships leading us to personal enlightenment. Sometimes the friendships we build are with humans and, sometimes, the friends who teach us most do not walk on two legs.
The North Channel Book Club has two selections to be read for the month of July. In the memoir, Grayson by Lynne Cox, a teenage girl befriends a lost baby gray whale while training for a long distance swim off the coast of California. In Alan Bennett's novella, The Uncommon Reader , Elizabeth, Queen of England, follows her pack of Corgis into the library of all places. Neither woman will be the same.
Join us in the meeting room at North Channel on Wednesday, July 24 at 10 am for refreshments and discussion.
