Are you looking for a way to prepare your young child for Kindergarten? Here's a fun way to get your child off to a good start. Participate in the 1,001 Books Before Kindergarten program at Freeman Library. This program is free and it allows you to work at your own pace.
Here's 3 easy steps to get started:
1) Pick up a reading log at the Kids Information Desk or download one from our website: http://kids.hcpl.net/pandt/1001BooksBeforeKindergarten.htm
2) Start reading! Simply color one star each time you read a book. Read it twice - count it twice and color a star for each time you read. You can count library books, your own books, or books that we read in the storytimes.
3) After you read 100 books, bring your completed log into the library, receive a stamp and your next reading log. After you read 1,001 books, you will receive a certificate and a great start to a lifetime love of reading.
A fun thought: If you read just 3 books a day, you will reach the goal of 1,00l books in less than a year!
