With the Academy Awards [2] just behind us, perhaps it's time to review and queue praised films of 2009. Not sure what movies were released in 2009? Moviefone released the 50 Best Movies of 2009 [3] this past December. Not all movies listed are available on DVD yet, but here are a few personal favorites:
- (500) Days of Summer [4]
- Coraline [5] is adapted from Neil Gaiman [6]'s novel [7] and was also adapted into a graphic novel [8], which I highly recommend as well.
I Love You, Man [9] is a light "bro-mantic" comedy featuring Paul Rudd [10] and John Segel [11], two great actors that represent the new generation of comedic films.
Julie & Julia [12] will surely make you hungry as you watch Meryl Streep [13] and Amy Adams [14] cook up a storm. Don't worry; we also own Julia Child cookbooks [15] as well as Julie Powell [16]'s novel [17] on which the movie is based.
Where the Wild Things Are [18]. The film is a tad on the dark side but definitely a great movie to see for a trip down memory lane. The soundtrack [19] is equally awesome as it features Karen O. from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
