Mrs. Barbara Bush and her 18-month old Maltese poodle named Mini made a surprise visit to the Barbara Bush Branch Library on January 5, 2011, to do a special preschool story time about dogs. Debbie Hudson, Children's Assistant , began by reading several stories for the children.

Then Mrs. Bush read the children the book called I Love Dogs. [2] When she finished, she invited the children to come up to pet Mini, who seemed to love all the attention. A dog puppet craft rounded out the event. And a good time was had by all!
