The United Space Alliance (USA) and The Friends of Freeman Library will be sponsoring two summer sessions of the USA LEGO Robotics Camp for children 7-11 years old. The sessions run for four weeks. The first session will be the Saturdays in June (4, 11, 18 and 25) and the second session will be the four Saturdays starting July 16 through August 6. Campers may choose a session from 1-2:30 pm or 3-4:30 pm.
There is no charge to attend the USA LEGO Robotics Camp. The camp encourages children to work in pairs or small groups to put together a variety of fun LEGO projects using a laptop. The children learn math, engineering,and robotics concepts as well as cooperation and teamwork.
Due to the popularity of this program, there will be a drawing for the camp spots. The registration for the drawing for the June camp will begin this Saturday, May 14 and run through Saturday, May 21. Parents or caregivers may fill out a form at the Kids Information Desk to register a child for the drawing. The parents of the children whose names are drawn will be notified by email or phone by Friday, May 27. The registration for the drawing for the July/August session will be Saturday, June 18 through Saturday, June 25.
