This past Monday, some of the Fairbanks Book Club members and I went to see author Lisa See [2] at Rice University. She is an excellent speaker! She told some funny stories about her personal life and she talked some about her new book, “Dreams of Joy [3],” and about the movie that’s coming out on July 15 based on her book “Snow Flower and the Secret Fan [4].” One of the interesting tidbits about “Dreams of Joy [3]” was that Green Dragon Village was based on a real village that Amy Tan [5]and Lisa stayed in for a while. If all authors are as entertaining and informative as Lisa See, I recommend going to every author visit that you can!
