Music is and always will be a huge part of my life, and I enjoy sharing my love for music with children.
At times, however, I am troubled that children's music is not more musically complex. Children have the ability to experience different types of music at any age, and consequently, it is through these opportunities that they develop an appreciation of diverse compositions and sounds. It's an insult to the intelligence of infants and young people to think that every children's music cd needs to be sung by a purple dinosaur, or that it must include twinkly chimes.
Therefore, I would like to recommend a music CD that was originally written for adults, however, it is one that I think your entire family will enjoy. A little over a year ago, Natalie Merchant composed Leave Your Sleep which she created through the use of children's poetry, traditional nursery rhymes, and lullabies. It has since sold over 200,000 copies worldwide. I hope that you enjoy it as much as I have.
