Join us as we celebrate Black History Month with a music program for the whole family on Thursday, February 9 at 6:30 pm. Young Audiences of Houston musicians, Joseph Dixon and JAWAD, talk about the music contributions of several African American musicians: jazz players Louis Armstrong and Jelly Roll Morton, ragtime composer Scott Joplin, and blues player W.C. Handy. They encourage youngsters to join them upfront to play instruments for songs such as the rousing "When the Saints Go Marching In" and the toe-tapping Mardi Gras tune "Iko Iko". Don't miss this opportunity for the whole family to learn about the contributions of these great American musicians. Tickets are required. They are free and available at the Kids Information Desk starting 30 minutes before the program. We will not have the family program Twilight Tales this week so that families can attend this special music program. Twilight Tales will resume next Thursday at 6:30 pm.
