At Harris County Public Library, we believe our staff should be as diverse, energetic and talented as the people we serve. Step inside any branch and you’ll find us: storytellers and tech wizards, reference librarians and children’s librarians, shelvers and circulation assistants. Yet, for every one of us you see, there is another you don’t, working behind the scenes—selecting, cataloging and delivering materials, maintaining and upgrading the library’s complex and multifaceted computer systems, working with community groups and leaders so that the services and resources we offer continue to evolve as our communities do--all to ensure customers get the best service possible. We also believe that we can only help our customers grow and flourish if we do so ourselves, so each full-time staff member receives at least twenty hours of additional training every year that ranges from improving customer service to getting up-to-date on the latest trends in the rapidly changing world of library science. In short, every HCPL staff member is committed to our mission to bring our customers the resources and information that enriches their lives and strengthens their communities, as we continue to strive for innovative ways to better serve the people of Harris County.
