The American Library Association announced the 2016 Youth Media Award Winners this week and Book Hunters salutes the winners and offers a few reading suggestions to go along with them.

National Book Critics Circle honors 'Lila'

lilaMarilynne Robinson won the National Book Critics Circle Award on Thursday for her novel “Lila,” the final book in her trilogy set in the fictional Gilead, Iowa.

PEN/Faulkner Finalists Selected!

 

The PEN/Faulkner award is the largest peer-reviewed literary prize in the USA. These selections span cultures and circumstances to tell their stories. The prize will be announced on May 2. Read these finalists now and pick your favorite!

Nebula Award Nominees Announced

The Nebula Awards are the most prestigious honors for fantasy and science fiction, and are voted on by members of Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, Inc. On February 21, the nominees were announced. Read them all by June 7 when the winner is revealed! Below are the Nebula nominees for novel:

The National Book Critics Circle awards are given to 6 categories -- autobiography, biography, criticism, fiction, nonfiction, and poetry.The award is judged by a panel of book review editors and critics and is one of the country's most prestigious awards.

On December 2 the popular website, Goodreads, announced its 2014 Choice Awards. These awards are nominated and voted on by users of the site. Following is a list of some of the winners. How many did you read this year?

Though they still love each other, Georgie and Neal's marriage is in trouble. Two days before they are supposed to take their two kids to Neal's family in Omaha for Christmas, something comes up at Georgie's job and she can't go. When Neal takes the kids anyway, Georgie wonders if their marriage is over. But when she finds a way to communicate with Neal in the past, she feels like she's been given an opportunity to fix her marriage before it starts. Is that what she's supposed to do? Or would Georgie and Neal be better off if their marriage never happened?
