National Book Critics Circle honors 'Lila'

lilaMarilynne Robinson won the National Book Critics Circle Award on Thursday for her novel “Lila,” the final book in her trilogy set in the fictional Gilead, Iowa.

Nebula Award Nominees Announced

The Nebula Awards are the most prestigious honors for fantasy and science fiction, and are voted on by members of Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, Inc. On February 21, the nominees were announced. Read them all by June 7 when the winner is revealed! Below are the Nebula nominees for novel:

On December 2 the popular website, Goodreads, announced its 2014 Choice Awards. These awards are nominated and voted on by users of the site. Following is a list of some of the winners. How many did you read this year?

Though they still love each other, Georgie and Neal's marriage is in trouble. Two days before they are supposed to take their two kids to Neal's family in Omaha for Christmas, something comes up at Georgie's job and she can't go. When Neal takes the kids anyway, Georgie wonders if their marriage is over. National Book Awards 2014: Poetry Edition

If you have been looking for a gateway into contemporary American poetry, the National Book Award finalists are not a terrible place to start. Five poets  acting as judges have declared these five books to be “the best” of all poetry collections published this year, with the winner being announced at the black tie awards ceremony next Wednesday evening, November 19th at 7pm.
