Bear Creek Book Club Walks on Eggshells

The Bear Creek Book Club will be meeting tonight at 7:00 PM to discuss the book Walking on Eggshells by Jane Isay. The book selection for July will be Shanghai Girls by Lisa See.

Title to be discussed: Persuasion, by Jane Austen. Date of meeting: Monday, June 7, at 6:30 PM. Summary: Persuasion celebrates romantic constancy in an era of turbulent change. Written as the Napoleonic Wars were ending, the novel examines how a woman can at once remain faithful to her past and still move forward into the future. Anne Elliot seems to have given up on present happiness and has resigned herself to living off her memories.

Art of Racing in the RainTitle to be Discussed: The Art of Racing in the Rain, by Garth Stein. Date of meeting: Thursday, May 27, 1:30pm, in the Earl Elliott Room. Summary: Nearing the end of his life, Enzo, a dog with a philosopher's soul, tries to bring together the family, pulled apart by a three year custody battle between daughter Zoe's maternal grandparents and her father Denny, a race car driver. The Bear Creek Book Club met on Wednesday, May 5th. Death of RileyThey discussed The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende. They will be meeting on Wednesday, June 2nd at 7:00 PM to discuss the book Walking on Eggshells by Jane Isay.
And if mysteries are your interest, the Mystery Book Club will be meeting on Wednesday, May 19th at 11:00 AM to discuss Death of Riley by Rhys Bowen. 206 Bones by Kathy Reichs is the hot topic for June 16th.
