Heroes for my Daughter, by Brad MeltzerIf you are tired of all the bad news in the world, stop and read Heroes for My Daughter by Brad Meltzer. Meltzer tells the stories of 60 remarkable people, each highlighting an admirable quality and each dedicated to making the world a better place. They range from two relatively unknown women collegiate baseball  players who are  listed as "Champions," to the "Unconventional" Temple Grandin, an autism activist. You will feel better about the human race for having read it.

Texas Bluebonnets

As many of you already know bluebonnets are the Texas state flower. Today, in Toddle Time, we had fun learning  the Texas Bluebonnet song.  If you were not able to attend, or would like to extend your experience, I have included resources below.  The best time to see the bluebonnets is during the month of April, but you still might be able to find a few patches here or there.

The Ten, Make That Nine...What first drew me to Steve Martin's latest book is the stark plainness of the cover.  Then, it was the rambling, proofreading-challenged title.  Then, it was the fact that something so "virtual" as Twitter was being published on paper, of all things.  I didn't even have to read a word, and I knew: I LOVE IT!  Only Steve Martin could get away with all that.  Check it out: The Ten, Make That Nine, Habits of Very Organized People.

Everyone has heard the phases, "terrible twos."  While it is true that this age is associated with specific challenges, it is also the time when children begin to be more aware of their environment and they are in a stage of discovery. 

You can support your child's learning by providing an interactive environment, in which they will be able to seek out the knowledge that they so desire. The book I have selected suggest activities that encourage play, exploration and discovery.
