Winter days make me think of epic space operas set in the unforgiving cold of space, and one series in particular stands out.  The Expanse series by James S A Corey (really two authors,Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck) is a fantastic mix of sci fi, noir mystery and action.

Delany has been chosen as the 2013 recipient of the Damon Knight Memorial Grand Master Award by the  Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers of America, for his lifetime achievement in science fiction and fantasy. During his career he has won four Nebula awards, two Hugo awards, was inducted into the Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame in 2002 as well as many other awards and achievements.
