Craftapalooza!

Perler beadsThis Saturday, December 9, from 1:00-4:00, there is a special Christmas gift-making workshop for teens, tweens, and children! We'll provide all of the supplies, lessons, and wrapping paper for children and teens to make an awesome craft gift. Perler beads, shrinky-dink, and keychains are just a few of the materials that we'll be using. Come and create with us!

Doctor Who fans, our next Doctor Who Club meeting is also this Saturday, 1:00-2:30 pm. Your hostess has games and activities planned for your enjoyment!

Who Hates Christmas??

I’ll give you a clue: He’s mean and green. He decides to rid his world of Christmas by stealing every single Christmas-related thing from the Whos in Whoville. Put on your PAJAMAS, and come and watch the movie with us to see how things turn out! Tuesday, December 12, 4:30-6:30 pm. Includes a craft and a snack.

Beating Long-Term Unemployment

Unemployment 2Do you know anybody who has been unemployed for a long time? If so, send them to the library on Thursday, December 7, at 2:30pm. An expert from Workforce Solutions will help them figure out why they are having so much trouble finding a job and develop a plan to overcome the obstacles keeping them unemployed.

Finding Low-Cost Housing

HousingDo you know anybody who needs low-cost housing or emergency shelter? If so, send them to the library on Tuesday, December 5, at 2:00pm to learn how to use the Harris County Community Services Department’s website to find rental property, opportunities for first-time homebuyers, financial assistance, emergency shelter and other services. The speaker will walk them through the process step-by-step!

Aldine Library, November 20-22

Cork ornaments[En español abajo] In case you’re wondering, the library will be open our normal hours on Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 20- 21. (Monday, 1-8pm, and Tuesday, 10am-7pm.)  On Wednesday, we will be open 1-5pm. We will be closed for Thanksgiving Thursday-Sunday.
We have a lot to offer you on Monday and Tuesday, though!
Our Technology Specialist will teach an Introduction to Microsoft Word class from 5:00-6:30 pm on Monday (in Spanish) and Tuesday (in English).
We will have a special class at 4pm on Monday to show how to get ready for the US Citizenship Test using the USCIS app or the library’s free ProCitizen database.
At Krafty Korner, on Tuesday at 1pm, we will be making ornaments from wine corks. Supplies are limited, so registration is required.

Find out how you can study for the US Citizenship Test whenever you want by using an app on your phone or tablet or a database on our web site. Monday, Nov. 20, at 4:00 pm.
